Mahe

Mahe, the largest island, is surrounded by coral reefs, clear calm waters and powdery white beaches. Most of the Seychelles population resides on Mahe which is home to the capital, Victoria, the international airport, fishing and commercial ports, and many resorts. There are also a number of casinos on the island. Mahe boasts large granite rocks surrounded by lush vegetation and plantations of coconut palms, which rise to peaks with unequalled views of the neighboring islands.

Beau Vallon Bay is the most popular area on the island but there is much more to discover. Roads and public transport are quite good and rental cars are available. Mahe’s attractions include: the markets; the 100 year old Botanical Gardens with giant land tortoises; the capital Victoria with its famous clock tower; the National Museum dedicated to island’s history and much more. Ascend to the summit at Morne Seychellois National Park for one of the most spectacular vistas in the world.

Although Mahe is the nation’s economic hub it retains all of its natural beauty and charm.
